Baltic Space is a polish non-profit organization aiming to develop the European space sector by enabling easier access to suborbital research for scientific institutions and businesses.
Sztorm a is a smaller development vehicle for Sztorm B, designed to test critical technologies. Thanks to its compact size it enables testing in real flight conditions with lower cost, which enables testing aerodynamics control methods and propulsion systems. Specifications:
The Sztorm B rocket was designed to reduce the cost of performing research in space and hypersonic flight. It’s capable of launching 2kg payload above the Karman line (100km) providing a longer Zero-G time than parabolic flights. Additionally, the ability to deploy payloads enables atmospheric research such as using dipoles for wind measurement or aurora modification. This rocket also enables accelerating of 7kg payload to hypersonic velocity enabling testing of ramjet/scramjet engines and thermal protection materials. Thanks to this Sztorm B rocket plays an important role in development of space and hypersonic technologies in Poland. It’s specifications:
Baltic Space has a modern, mobile rail launcher for efficient launch operations of smaller rockets at different launch ranges. Thanks to its compact size and light materials the entire system can be transported by a standard car. This gives us flexibility when it comes to planning missions. Despite its small size it can still handle rockets of up to 40kg mass. Its modular design allows it to be configured to different rockets and uneven terrain which makes it a very universal tool.
Our ground support equipment (GSE) is a critical element of our launch infrastructure enabling reliable, efficient and safe pre-launch operations. This system enables remote fueling of the rocket which minimizes any risk to personnel and boosts efficiency of pre-launch preparations. In case of a launch scrub, it also enables remote draining of the rocket’s tanks, eliminating risks and enabling nonconsequential aborts. Thanks to this the system plays a critical role in our pre-launch operations.
Quail is our main flight computer, designed with actively controlled sounding rockets in mind. Its main feature is modularity, the entire system is built around a CAN bus based communication system that enables connecting various modules that perform their own tasks in the rocket. The central unit alone has a power management system, extended altitude barometer and a fast and efficient main processor. Besides 2 universal CAN buses it also features separate buses for a custom inertial navigation module and a quick release umbilical, which are also in development. It features:
Kestrel is a miniature flight computer developed by Baltic Space used for measuring flight parameters and deploying recovery systems in our development rockets that require compact size and high frequency datalogging. At 16x48mm board dimensions it offers:
